Textures and Bold Colors

A Celebration of Art and Venezuelan Culture

The fabrics in this collection are inspired by the beauty and vibrant colors of stained glass, drawing from the intricate designs found in church windows and the traditional stained-glass windows of old Venezuelan homes.

These stained-glass pieces do more than just adorn spaces; they tell stories of an era where creativity and functionality came together in harmony. They are a timeless expression of art, light, and color, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Venezuela.

History and Character: A Source of Inspiration

One of the most significant inspirations for this collection came when I discovered antique stained-glass windows in a family home.

These pieces, covered in dust and neglect, were on the verge of being discarded. However, I saw them not as waste, but as art filled with history and character.

Determined to rescue them, I cleaned and restored each piece, using their intricate patterns and luminous colors as a foundation for this collection. These windows, once part of a vibrant home, became the inspiration for a textile project that honors their legacy.

From Past to Present: The Artistic Vision

This project integrates patterns that embody the essence of stained glass, featuring:
• Geometric shapes
• Rich textures
• Bold, luminous colors

Each design reflects not only the aesthetic appeal of stained glass but also its unique interaction with light the way sunlight transforms these pieces into a dazzling display of color and movement.

Beyond celebrating the art of stained glass, this collection embraces the idea of renewal giving a second life to elements once forgotten and emphasizing their cultural and emotional value.

Developed as part of my Introduction to Textiles class, this project serves as a bridge between history and contemporary design, demonstrating how the past can inspire new forms of artistic expression.
